At the start of term, DAH asked all staff to reflect on how far we stretch and challenge the pupils at Oakham and this is something that I am particularly focusing on in my teaching this year. The purpose of last week’s TeachMeet was to provide practical ideas about how we can challenge pupils and encourage more higher level and creative thinking, in ways that do not involve a lot of extra time and effort. I hope that the ideas we discussed can be adapted to all subjects. Thank you for all of the staff who contributed lots of ideas to the discussion on Friday – I hope I have added all of these to the document attached in the TeachMeet section of this site, but please let me know if I have missed something! I am hoping that this will spark lots more discussion about the ways in which we can help Oakhamians to think more laterally and creatively in order to become more ambitious and independent learners.
